Blake Middle School Choir

 

Dan LeJeune

The Blake Middle School Choristers is comprised of 24 8th grade and 17 7th grade
students chosen by audition to participate in this accelerated mixed ensemble. Only
twelve of the current Choristers were part of the 2008‐2009 Choristers which
submitted a recording last spring to appear on this convention. Under the direction
of Dan LeJeune, this ensemble has performed at the 2002 and 2005 Minnesota ACDA
conferences, the 2003 and 2006 Minnesota Music Educators Conferences, and the
2003 Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE) National Conference.

Dan LeJeune directs the middle school choral program at the Blake School in
Hopkins, Minnesota. During his 24 year teaching career, Mr. LeJeune’s public and
independent school choirs have been invited to perform for nine professional state,
regional, and national conferences of ACDA, MENC, and OAKE. He directed the 2009
OAKE National Youth Honor Choir at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Dan has
conducted elementary and middle level honor choirs at the district, county, or state
levels in Illinois, Maryland, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Minnesota. A graduate of
Peabody Conservatory and Bowling Green State University, Dan leads workshops
and teaches summer classes focusing on developing elementary and middle school
choral repertoire, techniques, and musicianship. He has been a visiting instructor at
Colorado College, The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, George Mason
University, James Madison University, and the University of St. Thomas, where he
has taught graduate music education courses during the summer since 1995.
