The Summer Singers

Vicki Peters

The Summer Singers is a seasonal a cappella ensemble that was founded in 1986 by music educator Grant Norum who provided singers an opportunity to continue singing after their regular choral seasons. The Summer Singers includes voices from some of the finest community, church, and professional choirs in the Twin Cities, all who have the same passion and deep love of fine choral literature. They provide concerts on free‐will offerings.

After Grants death in 2002, Vicki Peters was selected to direct and brings outstanding choral and vocal experience resulting in Minnesota ACDA and North Central ACDA performances. Their recordings have been heard on MPR and NPR, they have premiered new works by talented composers such as Joshua Shank, and were invited to perform at the International Lions Club conference held in Minneapolis.

Vicki Peters enjoys an active career of conducting, singing and teaching. Vicki is in her sixth year as the artistic director and conductor of The Summer Singers who have performed at the Minnesota State and North Central Division ACDA conventions. She taught choral music at Fridley High School and developed excellent vocal and handbell choirs at various churches for sixteen years. In addition, she was the assistant director and a soloist for the Two Rivers Chorale. Vicki is a private voice teacher, was a project singer for the Dale Warland Singers, and currently is a singer and soloist for The Singers, Minnesota Choral Artists, under the direction of Matthew Culloton.

Vicki graduated from St. Cloud State University in Music Education receiving choral, vocal, and opera scholarships and Phi Kappa Phi membership, and is listed as an Outstanding Alumni of the music department. She studied voice, choir, and opera with Charles (Chuck) Peterson. Vicki is also a choral and vocal clinician and judicator.
