NC-ACDA 4th – 6th Grade Honor Choir February 10-11, 2012 Angela Broeker, Director
Congratulations to all young singers who will participate in this year's 4th – 6th grade honor choir. I can't wait to work with you in November!
The following notes accompany the rehearsal files posted online. If you, your parents, or your teachers have any questions, please write me at aebroeker@stthomas.edu
Have fun with your preparations! Dr. Broeker

Tanzen und Springen, Hans Leo Hassler
The entire choir will sing this piece in English. I'd also like a small group to sing it in German. If you, your teacher, or a family member knows German, please practice the piece in German as well as in English. I've included the German pronunciation as a rehearsal file.
A Trumpet Song, Henry Purcell
This is a very triumphant piece! As you can hear on the rehearsal files, we'll perform each of eighth notes as a dotted eighth note followed by a sixteenth note.
Dawn, Susan Brumfield
Dr. Brumfield wrote this piece using words that one of her children's choir members wrote!
Savez Vous Planter des Choux?, arr. Cyndee Giebler
At this year's convention, I get to teach you a part of this piece in front of everyone who's attending the conference. Before you arrive, please learn the melody and words for all 6 verses as you hear them on the rehearsal files. The silly words mean:
Can you plant your cabbage so? They are planted by the hand. They are planted with the fingers. They are planted with the feet. We plant and we laugh!
Shady Grove, arr. Allsbrook and Goodin
You're going to love this one! This fabulous piece is in three parts.
Blue Skies, arr. Roger Emerson
This jazz selection features both a soprano and alto section using "scat syllables" – mm. 37-51. We recorded these two sections in slow motion before we recorded each part. Have fun!
