Auditions

YOU ARE INVITED to audition your students for the 2012 North Central ACDA Honor Choirs. Selected students will rehearse February 9–11 (Children: February 10–11) in Madison and will perform in the acclaimed acoustic of Overture Hall in concerts on Saturday afternoon, February 11.


The 2012 North Central ACDA Honor Choir committee looks forward to providing an outstanding choral experience for students. We encourage you to have your singers audition to participate in this transformative process. In addition to rehearsing the repertoire to be prepared in advance of the start of rehearsals, each choir will learn one new piece after they arrive in Madison. Application brochures with
forms for honor choirs will be mailed in early April to all North Central ACDA members and will also
be available for downloading at this site.

Guest Conductors

  • CHILDREN (grades 4-6), Angela Broeker, conductor
  • MIDDLE LEVEL BOYS (grades 7-8), Randy Swiggum and Margaret Jenks, conductors
  • MIDDLE LEVEL GIRLS (grades 7-8), Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory, conductors
  • HIGH SCHOOL SATB (grades 9-12), Brad Holmes, conductor
  • COLLEGIATE REPERTOIRE CHOIR—no performance involved. The choir will be composed of quartets nominated by their teachers. They will rehearse all day Saturday, February 11, with multiple conductors.

Fees and Deadlines

We are pleased to be able to provide this experience for singers at an affordable price.

Application Fee

  • CHILDREN, MIDDLE LEVEL BOYS, MIDDLE LEVEL GIRLS, and HIGH SCHOOL: $15. 
  • Application Deadline – October 1, with final notification by November 1.


Registration Fee (for students accepted by audition) 

  • CHILDREN: $150 plus housing. Meals and music are included in this fee.
  • MIDDLE LEVEL BOYS/MIDDLE LEVEL GIRLS: $185 plus housing. Meals and music are included in this fee.
  • HIGH SCHOOL: $185 plus housing. Meals and music are included in this fee.
  • COLLEGE: $60 plus housing. This fee does not include meals but does include music.


The Registration Fee includes:

  • REGISTRATION, REHEARSALS, AND MEALS in downtown Madison, with all venues within easy walking distance
  • HONOR CHOIR MUSIC
  • REHEARSAL MP3s, to be available for download on this website
  • HONOR CHOIR T-SHIRT
  • TWO TICKETS FOR THE FINAL CONCERT
  • PERFORMANCE DVD

 

Housing for ALL honor choir singers and chaperones will be in NC-ACDA approved hotels.
