Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives
Ethnic & MultiCultural Choral
Music -- It is
hoped that this web database will prove to be helpful to choral
conductors who are seeking quality multicultural choral literature
and recordings. The database -- constantly under construction --
includes titles of music-in-print that publishers, editors and
distributors identify as "best sellers". It also includes
published titles deemed excellent by choral conductors,
publishers, editors and distributors. This site was created and is
being maintained by Lawrence Burnett -- professor of Music and
Choir Director from Carleton College, and former Repertoire and
Standards Chair for the Committee on Ethnic and Multicultural
Persepctives for the American Choral Directors Association, North
Central Division.
Multicultural
Music Home Page --
This website -- under construction -- is designed for choral
conductors who are interested in both resources and repertoire for
international (non-USA) choral music. The site is by no means
comprehensive! We hope you will make suggestions as we continue to
'construct.' In the General Information section, you will find
lists and links to publishers (USA and foreign), choral
associations and a brief CD list. The Repertoire and Resources by
Region section provides abbreviated lists of works by various
geographic or ethnic areas. Most of the repertoire is SATB. We
expect to add other repertoire sections soon. Resources specific
to given repertoire will also be directly linked to the repertoire
lists.
Melisma Links
Internet Resources for the Choral Conductor -- Here is a very helpful article by Sean Burton of Lincoln, Nebraska. It offers many valuable internet links for choral directors.
